"4 Cups" is a montage of monologues told by four women who share their perspectives and experiences of being black women in South Africa. In this play, the girls learn to become women in a world of traditional patriarchy and racism. They learn to accept the reality of being oversexualized by men and not having a safe space among mothers. The characters in the play are WORDS whose resentment causes her to hurt the men she dates, MILK who is religious, and her sin is that she is pregnant at 18, TASTE who is extremely insecure about her blackness, and FRUIT who uses weed and alcohol to turn her pain into humour.
