Ida Dorman Morris, and her husband, James Edwin Morris, decided to visit Alaska for an extended trip. Ida had loved Alaska since she was a young child, having seen pictures of the area in her geography book of polar bears, aurora borealis, and frigid winters. It is something she has been dreaming about for years.
Armed with their notebooks, and James' camera, they take a road trip through the United States. They visit the Falls of Minnehaha, Old Fort Snelling, Fort Wrangel, Juneau, Yosemite Valley, Mirror Lake, Gibbon River Falls, Yellowstone, and so many more amazing places. Each of their destinations are carefully written about, and photographed in the book. It is a wonderful look into what the area looked like at the time, more than a century ago. The book is fascinating, with the couple describing everything in such a way that it feels like one is right there along with them, witnessing all the destinations in person.
