Bonny-Gay is a young girl with a funny name. She loves to hang out with her friends, Max the black dog, and the Grey Gentleman, while she admires the beautiful animal statues on display. They are quite fond of each other. One day, Bonny-Gay meets another young girl who lived in the area a girl named Mary Jane with a crooked back, slumped shoulders, and deformed legs. She must walk on crutches, and has a hard time getting around. The two girls get on quite nicely, to the point that they refer to the other girl as their 'twin sister'.
It is a fun children's story about the close relationship between two young girls, and their adventures together. 'A Pair of Them' was written by Evelyn Raymond (author of the 'Dorothy' series, 'The Mislaid Uncle', and 'A Daughter of the Forest'). It was originally published in 1901, and is a great read for young readers.
