A Virginia Scout concerns Basdel Morris, a young frontiersman, messenger for the Government, and is told by himself. Morris has a continuous performance of thrills and hairbreadth escapes, of capture, of flouting inlove by a girl who learned frontier ways as a captive, and of escape and sharing in the big battle of Point Pleasant that brought peace to the mountain settlers. The book has all the thrills of Indian warfare, and a poignant love story.
