Welcome to this 17th handbook of mine, suitable for 1400 rated players.
It's all about Rook endgames. Ten per cent of all endgames.
Have you already read Mùller, de la Villa, Nunn, Emms, Ward, and you feel like being
within a heavy mist?
Simply look inside and try the easy test, if you don't pass it, may be this handbook could help you.
While I tried to keep it simple, it is hard when compared to most of my other books.
In chapter 2.1, a simple Rook vs. pawn position, where only counting is needed, some move is
the only move that does not lose. Nalimov tablebases are needed to verify this. Imagine what
happens for more complicated positions.
Only a dozen of different situations are given. When compared to famous books it looks like
nothing, but if you are able to understand and remember them, you will surely have an
advantage. To help understanding, links to sample games are provided (an Internet connection is
neded). A chessboard is advisable. Enjoy.
