Over a thousand years ago the New Zealand Maori believed a volcanic island in the western Pacific, Hawaiki, was the ancestral homeland of their long-lost nation and the very place that time began. They believed Tiki was the first mortal man to arrive from the heavens, fathered by Tu, the god of war. Tu's mother was Hine-nui-te-Po, the goddess of death, who gave birth to all mankind.
Yet there is a terrible secret held fast from the beginning of time. For it is whispered that Tiki was not the first being to arrive on the island but the second. The first was a half-human, bird-like creature called Manaia, fathered by Tane the god of nature and Hine-nui-te-Po.
It is said the two tribes lived together in harmony for many generations but when food resources began to dwindle the tribe of Tiki drove the bird people from the island.
Where did they go, what happened to them and what terrible curse was placed upon them both?
Is this the real truth, at last, behind the legend of Black Moon, cloaked in mystery and magic? Follow the dangerous path through history, all the way to the Underworlds.
