The celebration of Christmas started in Rome about 336 (but it did not become a major Christian festival until the 9th century). Many Christmas traditions, such as decorating trees, started in Germany and later spread to other parts of the world, notably England and the United States.
All over the world, everybody loves a Christmas story. The tradition of the Twelve Days of Christmas is a tradition of celebration, sharing, and giving. Christmas is celebrated across the globe on 25 December to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. Read this book by the fire, in the snow, traveling home for the holidays. Give them to friends, relatives, wrap them up for someone you love, read them aloud, read them alone, read them together. Do you know that the name 'Çhristmas' comes from the Mass of Christ or Jesus? I describe in this book history of the Christmas celebration, Christmas tree, and Santa Claus. Christmas festival is the time when family, friends, and relatives come together and celebrate with full of joy.
Christmas was traditionally a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus, but in the early 20th century, it also became a secular family holiday, observed by Christians and non-Christians alike. The secular holiday is often devoid of Christian elements, with the mythical figure Santa Claus playing the pivotal role.
Christians and non-Christians partake in some of the most popular Christmas traditions, many of which have no origins in liturgical affirmations. These customs include decorating evergreen treesor, in India, mango or bamboo trees; feasting (picnics and fireworks are popular in warm climates), and exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.
"It's the best time of the year for the family
It's a wonderful feeling
Feel the love in the room
From the floor to the ceiling
It's that time of year
2020 Christmas time is here"
It's the Christmas season! At The Mission, we are determined to spend these next few weeks spreading happiness, holiday cheer, and corny Christmas lyrics.
