As they investigate, they uncover evidence of deliberate sabotage conducted via a common sourcedeliberately introduced nanoparticles designed to rewrite programming and modify behavior. Then Lucas' Maker, Dr. Livia Connelly, is kidnapped and her assistant killed, and suddenly the case takes on new urgency.
