Glamour Scammers

A scammer, a con artist, tries to gain your confidence and then once he has your confidence he will be more easily able to steal your money. Let's utilize philosophy to try to expose scammers. For example, if we start with the following 2 choices...

1. Islam is the True Religion. Islam leads people to Heaven. Mohammed is a trustworthy Prophet of the Creator of the Universe.

2 ) Islam is a false religion. Islam leads people to perdition. Mohammed is not a trustworthy Prophet of the Creator of the Universe.

So you see how it goes. On first inspection you see you are forced to choose 1 of 2 choices, and if you choose the wrong choice then you get labelled "delusional", and at best you are an unwitting scammer if not a deliberate scammer. But what happens so often is that people become obvious scammers by saying something like: the 2 choices above are not the only 2 choices! If a person insists that Islam is the True Religion, but then if he goes on to say that one needn't accept everything in the Koran, well, this is an obvious scam if indeed Islam is the True Religion. Suppose Islam truly is the True Religion. Then you become a scammer, and you expose yourself to the terrors of Hell, if you go about trying to alter or corrupt the foundations of Islam. If you are a scammer then why wouldn't God send you to Hell?

If you are confronted with the following 2 choices....

1. The Roman Catholic Church is the True Church, the Church which Christ founded on a rock, recall Matthew 16. 13-19, the Bride of Christ, the True Church which leads people to Heaven.

2. The Roman Catholic Church is a false church. Rome leads people away from Heaven and to eternal perdition. Rome is lost in heresy.

Naturally Roman Catholics say that choice number 1 from above is correct and choice 2 is all wrong. OK. That's simple enough. But suppose also, at least for a moment or two, that though Rome is God's True Church, Rome is so degraded from sex scandals, child abuse scandals, corruption in doctrine scandals etc., etc., therefore, though Rome is God's True Church, and suppose also there is no salvation outside of Rome - I mean, if Rome is God's True Church, and if you reject Rome, then it stands to reason you will be damned - Embrace the True Church and you go to Heaven, Reject the True Church and you are damned! - nothing complicated here! - nevertheless, what if the vast majority of Roman Catholics will eventually attain Heaven but only after they have suffered cruel torments for many years or decades in the cleansing fires of Purgatory? I mean, suppose people like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, you know, pro-choice Catholics, will have to suffer many years of agonizing tortures in the cleansing fires of Purgatory before they are admitted as saints into the Kingdom of Heaven. Well, this naturally leads one to ask: Isn't there some way one can get to Heaven without having to first spend many years suffering cruel tortures in Purgatory?
