Hanigavithegalu

Mr.B.R.Lakshmana Rao, born in Chickballapur and worked as tutor till his retirement. He has published various works across different categories like Novels, Poems, Plays and Songs, etc.

He has won various awards including the famous awards like Karnataka Sahithya Academy Prize for poetry (1981), Goruru Sahithya Prashasti (1998), Chutuku Ratna Prashasti (1998) and Visvesvarayya Sahithya Prashasti (2000), etc.

He was the president of Kolar District Sahitya Sammelana in 2006. He was also invited to participate in the AKKA Literary Convention held in New Jersy, USA, in 2010. He participated in Karnataka Rajyotsava as an invitee in Singapore and Qatar in 2013. He was invited and felicitated as a guest- poet in the 'Ugadi Festival' held in Liverpool, UK, in March, 2015. He presided over the Hanigavana Goshti in Kannada Samskruti Sammelana held in Dubai and Sharja on 19th and 20th of Navembar 2015.His poems are translated into English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Bengali, Kashmiri and several other Indian languages. His poems have been prescribed for study in School and University text books in Karnataka. Feature films have been made based on his stories- Ondu premade kate and Kabbekku. A TV serial was made based on his novel- Heegondu Premakate. His play, a comedy- Nanagyaako Doutu, has been successfully staged by several dramatic troupes in Karnataka and also in the USA.
