Émile Édouard Charles Antoine Zola (1840 1902) was a French writer, the most well-known practitioner of the literary school of naturalism and an important contributor to the development of theatrical naturalism in France. During his early years, Zola wrote numerous short stories and essays, four plays and three novels. Among his early books was Contes à Ninon, published in 1864. Some novels became the basis of films. His novel Les Mystères de Marseille appeared as a serial in 1867. His Masterpiece by Emile Zola is the fourteenth novel in the Rougon-Macquart serious published in 1885. The main character painter Clauder Lantier desires to paint real subjects in real places, other way, outdoors. But his desire and motivation turns out to be the contrast to the artistic establishment, where artists painted in the room space and concentrated only on mythological, historical and religious subjects. Novel and its storyline describe the history of rejecting something new and unknown precisely due to public opinion and ideas. It is not a surprise for all of us. Only time, persistence, and patience step by step make all innovations simple and friendly.
