"History of the Caliph Vathek" was a Gothic novel. Once upon a time one merchant delivered several numbers of shiny sabers with incomprehensible inscriptions on it. In order not to be blinded by the glitter, Vatek examined inscriptions through colored glass, couldn't understand its meaning.
