History of the Conquest of England by the Normans, Volume 1 is an expansive text of over 600 full length pages, detailing the history of England from before and after the fall of the Roman Empire. The Appendix is vast, containing primary source material such as decrees of Roman Emperors, a speech by a Northumbrian chief, the song of the Anglo-Saxons, and poetic narrative of the Battle of Hastings.
