Trained by the NKVD as a saboteur/assassin and given the code name Janus, agent Anton Stovick is sent to the United States in 1933, instructed to obtain a laborer's job at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation, and to wait for an assignment. However, after becoming involved in an altercation with his boss over a woman, Anton is fired. His Denver handler, code named Auntie, sets up a new cover for Anton as a rancher north of Pueblo. Over the years political relations between Russia and the U.S. change from allies to enemies, and the two countries enter the decades known as The Cold War. Finally, in the summer of 1962, Anton gets his assignment, and incredible one - kill the president of the United States.
