Part action/mystery and part romantic novel, Katherine and Patrizia introduces the reader to plucky Kate, the second youngest daughter in a large, well-to-do, traditional Italian American family living in rural Connecticut after the Great Depression and into World War Two and beyond.
A skilled equestrian, Katherine rode "Trizzy" all over the countryside, finding more than her share of adventures and challenges that helped her "grow up" and face the realities of war.
Kate would join the WAACS (Women's Army Auxiliary Corps) and become a Jeep driver, responsible for transporting war injured to New Haven Hospital from the inbound train out of New York City.
She follows orders one hot summer's day, to bring a wheelchair for a badly injured sailor who will be wheeled off the last train car by a nurse. She had no idea at the time that her life was about to change forever.
