"Seize the Day" by Saul Bellow was first published in 1956. It was the author's fourth novel. The novel is considered to be one of the greatest novels of 20th century.

He is going through hard times: he is unemployed and impecunious. He has been separated from his wife. She does not agree to a divorce. He is away from his children and his father.
