Members of the Family is a collection of eight short stories about people in the Wyoming Territory in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Owen Wister (July 14, 1860 July 21, 1938) was an American writer and historian, considered the "father" of western fiction. He is best remembered for writing The Virginian and a biography of Ulysses S. Grant, a lieutenant general in the American Civil War later elected the 18th President of the United States.
