Maya and the Magic Friendship Tree
In the heart of a sunny park, where flowers bloomed as bright as smiles, there lived a girl named Maya. Maya had hair like swirling chocolate and a laugh that sounded like birdsong. She loved to play in the park, especially under the biggest, oldest tree she'd ever seen. Its branches were like giant, welcoming arms, and Maya called it the Friendship Tree.
One afternoon, while Maya and her friends Emily and Ben were building a fairy castle out of leaves, they heard whispering and giggling from nearby. A girl named Lily, with eyes like the evening sky, stood alone, her shoulders hunched like a little bird in a storm.
"Look at her clothes!" one of the older kids hissed. "Why would anyone wear that?"
Maya's heart thumped with a strange mix of anger and sadness. Why were they being so mean? Didn't they know that everyone was different, just like flowers are all different colors? She thought of the Friendship Treesome of its branches were long, some short, some had knobbly bumps, but that made the tree even more special.
Taking a deep breath, Maya walked straight up to Lily. "Hi!" she said with a big smile. "My name's Maya. Do you want to play with us? We're making a castle for the fairies!"
Lily's eyes widened with surprise, then a hopeful smile spread across her face. "I'd love to."
