La nostra recensione

a book to treasure ... beautifully presented ... impressive -- School Librarian this beautiful edition is a gift to a new generation, well remembered and treasured by past generations and hopefully preserved with joy, pain and breadth of vision intact for the edification of future hearts and minds -- Midwest Book Review three of Oscar Wilde's fairy tales for children are republished with gorgeous original art by Robinson. It would be a loss for contemporary children not to have these stories -- Kirkus Reviews the pairings of story and art glow with the truth that love knows no boundaries. The 1888 art is beautifully reproduced in full pages, while the linear, originally black-and-white images have been washed with color. The latter is always a chancy business, as the book's designer, Emma Byrne, acknowledges: [T]his is a tightrope act, as it is important not to destroy the integrity of the fine linework. It does not seem meretricious in this case; the result is lovely. This is full-blown art nouveau: The watercolors are voluptuous in their sinuous line and delicacy of hue, and even the text pages have shadow patterns beneath their lovely type -- Kirkus Reviews with great respect for the past, this edition succeeds in bringing the illustrations into the present -- Kirkus Reviews these beautiful illustrations could certainly be used in visual arts in the looking and responding strand unit in senior classes -- InTouch magazine the themes in The Selfish Giant would be suitable for use in middle classes -- InTouch magazine both The Happy Prince and The Selfish Giant provide a considerable body of work in English, drama and SPHE for senior classes -- InTouch magazine The Nightingale and the Rose could possibly be used with an above average sixth class -- InTouch magazine stunning new edition -- and the classic illustrations by Charles Robinson perfectly accent the telling of these classic tales, casting a dreamlike spell that remains with the reader long after the book is closed -- and perfect for children of all ages, this book should be part of everyone's collection! A timeless treasure that is a perfect introduction (or re-introduction) to the wit and warmth of Oscar Wilde -- and beautiful ... the images and illustrations ... will captivate any reader -- perfect for a classroom lesson! -- timely and welcome ... a book to keep -- Irish Examiner brilliant ... gorgeous production' -- Bord Gais Energy Book Club years later the magic still lives on! -- Bord Gais Energy Book Club a really attractive book ... lovely present ... very attractively produced -- Robert Dunbar, The Marian Finucane Show, RTE Radio 1 beautifully designed by Emma Byrne -- Newstalk Breakfast no child's bookshelf should be without an Oscar Wilde collection - ideally, this beautiful new edition -- Irish Mail on Sunday a delightful publication -- The Primary Planet stunning -- perfect Christmas present for young readers and a wonderful addition to any collection -- features some of the most beautiful illustrations I have ever seen in a children's book -- I cannot recommend this book enough -- Get it now; read it on your own, read it to your kids, read it to an old person in a home, just read it. It truly is wonderful -- one of those wonderful children's hardback books that is a 'keeper' -- the colour illustrations are stunning -- would make a lovely Christmas present or even a present for a new baby as a classic book they will always have -- a nice way to introduce them to a classic author but in an easy way -- very nice, definitely one to keep on the bookshelves for years -- beautiful reproduction -- Kim Harte perfect Xmas gift for young and old -- Kim Harte dreamlike and beautiful -- Bookwitch particularly welcome -- Irish Times beautifully illustrated -- Connemara Journal a book that can be enjoyed by all ages -- Connemara Journal particularly welcome -- Irish Times timeless treasure -- Sunday Independent beautifully designed by Emma Byrne -- Irish Independent a fantastic gift to be treasured by a new generation of children -- Dubray Books Three classic fairytales by Oscar Wilde that sparkle with wit and enchantment. They have been beautifully reproduced with unabridged text and using the original illustrations from one of the 20th century's foremost and illustrious illustrators, Charles Robinson. His vibrant and evocative watercolour and line drawings together with Wilde's seamless prose make this a timeless treasure for the whole family to enjoy -- lovereading beautiful ... a gift edition to treasure --
