The R.E.F.O.R.M curriculum was designed as a critical thinking proactive guide to help individuals avoid potential pitfalls that can lead to incarceration. Topics covered in the book outline ways to avoid substance addiction, dealing with impulsivity and control issues, as well as managing criminal thinking. As a reentry model it guides individuals into looking at irrational decisions and other issues that have led them to be incarcerated and a tool to use against recidivism. Author Dr. Zeb S. Regan III developed R.E.F.O.R.M. through years of working with individuals in juvenile detentions, group homes, and correctional facilities. His research was gathered through teaching college courses in psychology, valued participant input gathered in jails and on the streets, as well as counseling individuals with severe substance abuse addictions. In addition to these experiences, Dr. Regan perform counseling duties through contracts with the Florida Department of Children and Families working with pregnant women dealing with addictions. He also worked as lead counselor for both the (R.S.A.T) Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program and Fatherhood Initiative program through a contract at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, Florida.
