Its source text is Hayek's "Road of Serfdom", written in 1944. Hayek's immediate target was the English Labor Party, on the eve of the 1945 election in England. Hayek's message was drastic: "... moderate English Social Democracy leads to the same disaster as German Nazism: to modern serfdom."
