About Thomas Troward
(1847-1916)
Troward's works are more relevant today than when he wrote them. He was not a popular writer of his time because human frequency of thought was not ready to understand consciousness and manifestation. Though ahead of his time, Troward influenced those who could think outside the box. Today we know frequency is accelerating as thought and manifestation move along with it bisynchronously. Troward's books are a blend of healing, spirituality and science, which he called 'Mental Science'. He speaks about group consciousness and how the individual must recognize itself (individual power) before it can be powerful enough to manifest. One must see themselves experiencing in the box as a character in the play/program we are experiencing. This moves a soul from actor to director. Also relevant to my current research on Nostradamus is Troward's concept of 7 cycles or wheels of time.
Thomas Troward authored many books that are considered classics in the area of New Thought, Mind Sciences, and even mystic Christianity. Influences on his writings include the teachings of Christ, Islam, Hindu Teachings, Buddhism and more.
Troward was born in Punjab, India, educated in England, and received honors in literature. He was appointed Her Majesty's Assistant Commissioner and later Divisional Judge of the North Indian Punjab from 1869 until his retirement in 1896. He was a prize winning artist and loved to research and write. Troward was raised in the Church of England but was extremely well educated in the religions and philosophies of the world.
Troward was the author of many successful books including the famous Edinburgh Lectures 1904 and Dore Lectures.
Trowards writings have influenced many great authors and religious leaders such as: Emmet Fox, Ernest Holmes, Paul Foster Case, Joseph Murphy and even recent authors such as Bob Proctor. His contributions to the development of the New Thought Movement, Human Potential Research, and Religious Science continue in the present day.
His writings are sometimes very intellectual, but his grasp on a fusion of Eastern and Western philosophy is intense and make for fruitful readings. As Troward did not see a need for the Occult, his writings challenged dogma in favor of a personal and abundant relationship with the Universal Spirit similar to the philosophy of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin or other great recent mystics. Troward spoke several languages, studied biblical scripture written in Hebrew, read the Koran, and researched the writings of Raja Yoga.
