George Allan England (1877-1937) was an American writer, explorer, and would-socialist politician. Born in Nebraska, he attended Harvard, earning two degrees before embarking on a writing career. Much of his published work was in science fiction or speculative fiction. England also ran for governor of Maine in 1912 as a Socialist, earning just 1.47% of the popular vote. Several of his books were dedicated to American socialist leader Eugene V. Debs and have Socialist themes.
