New Testament or New Covenant is the set of writings relating to the life of Jesus and the first years of Christianity which are considered authentic by the Christian Churches. The word testament comes from the Greek word testament, contract, convention translated into Latin by testamentum. The Greek word has a broader meaning than the Latin word so some prefer to translate it by Alliance. Christians consider that the Bible is therefore composed of the Old Testament written before Jesus and the New Testament. The New Testament includes, according to the Western canon: The four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, 14 epistles, most of which attributed to Paul of Tarsus, other epistles, called Catholics attributed to other disciples, the Apocalypse according to John from Patmos.
