The Long Journey Home

In the early 1800's times were hard for many in the southeastern part of the continent but many found a livelihood in the trading and sale of livestock and fowl. Many in eastern Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia became drovers, driving herds of hogs, cattle, horses, turkeys to destinations in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and south to Travelers Rest, Greenville, and other points in South Carolina and Georgia. Over one hundred and fifty thousand hogs passed through Asheville, North Carolina annually on route to southern destinations. It was on one of these drives that a young man, on his way back home is framed for the murder of his friend.In order to return home he must travel a long and dangerous route which leads by the way of the ghost lights on ghost mountain in Burke County, North Carolina. In escaping from a small band of rogue Indians he collides with one of the ghost lights that hurls him back in time to 1200 A.D. It is here he encounters the reality of some of the myths associated with the ghost lights. Weeks later he finally manages to get back home, accompanied by a young Indian woman and several other special people which inhabited ghost mountain centuries ago. Eventually he clears his name and the man who framed him is brought to justice.
