The third volume in our B-36 series that focuses on the multiyear project where a small group of dedicated men dismantled, moved and reassembled...twice...the last Consolidated B-36 ever built. These photos not only show how it was done, but provide limitless vignette and diorama ideas for the modelbuilder. This installment shows the separation of the fuselage sections from the wing, removal of the tail assembly from the aft fuselage and transportation of the props to the new museum site just south of the General Dynamics (now Lockheed) main gate. If you have a passion for the B-36, this E-book series is a must for your B-36 library. Photos were taken mostly on black-and-white film and occasionally color transparencies with a variety of cameras and film types. Those factors, combined with the age of the negatives, weather conditions when the photos were taken and more, results in the quality of the images varying. You will find photos here that are...frankly...lousy, but they've been included for the one piece of information you may find valuable. That said, all images have been optimized to the extent possible with the historian and modelbuilder in mind.
