When Thalia Eichel, a nobody from Druin, wakes up on the outskirts of the royal city with her memories lost, it's safe to say she has a few questions. Only one person can give her the answers she seeks-Alistair, the God of Protection. Her mind may be nothing but a web of fragmented memories, but there's one thing Thalia does remember. His choices and rebellious allegiances lead him down a relentless path from which there is no turning back. Corruption oozes from the hearts of the black cloaks, and he manages to get wedged in the thick of it.

All roads point back to King Vitalis, but why? What would the royals want with a family of farmers who, in their eyes, are a bunch of nobodies anyway?
