Kate Douglas Wiggin (1856 1923) was a famous American educator and author well known for children's stories. The highest rank of her literary experience became most notable classic children's novel named "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" which brought her the world recognition and popularity.
"The Story of Waitstill Baxter" is a story with homely frames of mind in which two absolutely contrasted characters are daughters of an extremely rude and miserly old deacon. Each daughter tries to do her best in order to resist him and much to the joy of the reader the deacon takes his share of revenge in face of a fourth wife who is apparently more than an explosion for him. The author's well known gifts of characterization, sympathy and humor are all used to create the typical atmosphere of a new England village.
