Before Deborah Wilson was married, she rarely had any thoughts of a stable, loving relationship or a family due to her emotionally distant parents in the small town of Barrows, North Carolina. To put the bad memories of what she saw as a "backwoods childhood", Deborah headed north to pursue her education at Morgan State University in Baltimore. The big city seemed just what she had been looking for to put the drag of Barrows out of her memories. But when she met Ken Wilson her life changed in ways she never could have dreamed of as a young girl.
Ken and Deborah built a full and rewarding life for themselves which soon included a daughter, Sally, that Deborah always felt hesitant over having because of her lack of a proper role model growing up. And as time went by, Deborah could never shake the feeling that there was something just a hair off about Sally though everyone around her assured her she was just making too much out of it alleven her therapist who had been instrumental in getting Deborah through some other issues from her past.
But when they relocated to the small town of West Orange New Hampshire after Deborah was mugged in Baltimore Sally's possible involvement with the disappearance of one of her playmates in the neighborhood put Deborah on high alert again.
