Things to Do in Hell

The poetic companion to NBC's The Good Place, this collection is Chris's answer to the question of whether we live in a Hell replete with love and tenderness or a Heaven that's utterly corrupted, and what that means for everyday life. The concept was born out of a conversation Chris had with one of his special needs poetry students, Soren, who coped with psychological trauma by provoking his teachers. Chris finally broke through by remarking how Soren's worldview made it seem like everyone was living in hell. To which he responded, "How do we know we're not?" This led to an unforgettable discussion of all the ridiculous and mundane things we do every day while unwittingly living in hell, from trying new flavors of yogurt to trolling on YouTube. Chris is an established Coffee House poet with a loyal readership. He also has a book of essays about his work with neurodivergent students coming from HarperOne in 2021. Chris is charming, articulate, and enthusiastic about promoting this book. He has lots of creative ideas for events and great connections in literary and artistic circles.
