Many chess books try to teach you how to eventually win, and a few will tell you how to defend, but here you will find suggestions on how to play in lost situations: twelfe odd endgames you are likely to encounter soon or later, where you could fight for your half point.
If you read other books of mine you will recognize most of the patterns, but here they are arranged in a systematic way, with directions on how to reach them.
Certainly you know the advice to trade pieces to a winning ending, and you might have bought the only book on the subject, Exchanging to win in the endgame by Gennafy Nesis. Chances are you are not able to follow if your rating is below expert level.
You are being outperformed by your more skilled opponent, and he will try to send you home applying the above principle.
Maintain a positive attitude, and try instead to exchange in a drawn endgame, the only chance for you to grab that half point.
This book will show drawing endings instead, and ideas on how to reach them. With the help of sample games to be found as usual on pages I keep for this purpose. An Internet connection is therefore needed, to take full advantage
of this supplementary material.
Enjoy the book and your games.
