Millicent Fawcett was an English activist, known as a campaigner for women's suffrage. In 1897, she became President of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, focused on improving women's chances of higher education.
"Women and Representative Government" is an article published in 1883. "This movement for the representation of women is nothing more nor less than a simple outgrowth of the democracy which has been the gradual product of this century", she says.
