Valery Bryusov (1873 1924) was a Russian poet, prose writer, dramatist, translator, critic and historian. In this short story written in 1901, a little girl runs away from home on Christmas Day to bow to baby Jesus. Wandering the empty streets at night, she runs into an unlikely companion who says that he is looking for Christ too.
