Mary Clarissa "May" Byron (1861 1936) was a British writer and poet, best known for her abridgements of J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan books. She published under the names May Byron, M.C. Gillington and Maurice Clare. Byron specialized in writing biographies of great artists, before going on to rewrite some of J. M. Barrie's works for younger readers and to write cookbooks.
"A Day with Lord Byron" by Mary Byron is written during the 1910s in the belles lettres style that provides the reader a brief escape into the life and mind of a great English poet and a leading figure in the Romantic movement Lord Byron. It includes part research, part supposition, part imagination accompanying a fictional February afternoon in the year 1822 in life of Lord Byron with poetry selections and color illustrations written under the pseudonym "Maurice Clare".
