Set in England, A Kiss for Wilhelmina portrays Wilhelmina Payne, a lady, who visits her Aunt. There she meets the handsome Lord Gareth Gwenlyn and falls in love with him. He is thinking about marrying another lady, but begins to think of marriage to Wilhelmina. Having a four-year-old child, Lord Gwenlyn wishes to choose the best mother for him, so he is in a quandary as to which lady he will choose. Interwoven in the story is Wilhelmina's other suitor, Lord Eden, the loves of her two cousins and her abigail, Lizzy, and the tragic marriage of her Aunt.
