Andrew Lang was a Scottish prolific author, mostly known as the collector of folk and fairy tales. "A Long-Bow Story" is a humorous fairy tale entered in "The Olive Fairy Book", that was published in 1907. One day a banker was walking along a country road and overtook a farmer going in the same direction. Now the bunniah was very grasping, like most of his class, and was lamenting that he had had no chance of making any money that day; but at the sight of the man in front he brightened up wonderfully. The cunning banker joined him hoping to make any money and offered a game to the simple-minded farmer to play: they will tell one other the wildest tale they can imagine, and he who first throws doubt on the other's story shall pay him a hundred rupees.
