A Missunderstanding

On my fortieth birthday, the gang at work conspired to throw me an over the hill party. Each corner of my desk sported a black balloon with the number 40 on it. The entire desk was draped in black crape paper. There were a dozen or so cards laying on it; all taking digs at being old. It was a joke, I wasn't laughing. Who the hell wants to be over the hill?
I'd put on a few pounds since college and as a mother of two, I had an excuse, didn't I? I managed to lose all but about twenty or so pounds.
Over the years, I'd adopted an easy to care for shaggy page boy kind of do, it was easy to take care of. And my wardrobe kind of followed suit. I went into the ladies room to get away from all the jibes about being over the hill. I stood back looking in the mirror and took stock of myself. I looked over the hill.
My birthday had been on a Friday. By Monday I had joined a gym and subscribed to an online diet program. I didn't make a big deal of it to my husband David. He'd have just told me that forty was just a number and that he loved just as much as he did the day we were married.
The first thing I did to get myself in the right mind set was to systematically replace my lingerie. I even made a change to demi cups when my boobs lost a cup size. It took a year, but the twenty pounds went.
Thinking that if people thought I was old they might also think I was outdated in my work approach. Not wanting some kid right out of college to pop in and show me up, I started to look for ways to make myself more valuable to the company. I was already closing as many deals as I could. I stumbled onto the solution when one of my existing clients came to me and asked if we could adapt an existing product to meet the needs of an upcoming trend in their business.
I sought out Marge Gordon, the head of R & D. When I broached the idea to her, she encouraged me to get details from my client and bring it back to her. My schedule was already pretty full, but I made some late in the day appointments with the client and a week later, I found myself staying late to work with Bob Marsden on the specs for the modification.
Just like that I became good friends with Marge and she encouraged me to find her more ideas. On top of my usual work load that made for some long days. Not everything I brought in was doable economically but about forty percent were and everyone was happy.
With my diet and exercise program compete, I totally revamped my wardrobe and hair style and I was rewarded with the guys at work and clients as well as passersby on the street taking notice of my new look. I felt twenty years younger and frankly it turned me on to garner the kind of attention I was getting. I was sure that David was tickled to death that my sex drive increase.
That is until David got it in his head that all the changes had been made because I was having an affair. What he zeroed in on what the outward changes the new hairstyle, the new clothes especially the sexy lingerie not to mention that I'd opted to get a Brazilian. All in all he determined, after talking to a bartender, the fountain of all knowledge, especially about why women do what they do, that all of that added up to a new man in my life.
I explained my motives and actions and my long hours and his solution to make him feel better about my desire to be appreciated by men, particularly younger men was to be a part of it. He took an active part in it and started giving me opportunities to be appreciated while he was there to witness said appreciation.
The result was after a year, he became fascinated with the idea of me and younger man. Enter Evan, the new CEO at work who mistook me for an estranged wife in need of companionship. Oh he was a gentleman about it when I corrected him and didn't pursue it. That turned David on and he liked to tease me about Evan and began role playing in our sex life as Evan.
