The eleventh story in the saga of DCI Victor Moyes life in the fictional town Abberford sees him being manipulated by his new boss Assistant Chief Constable Jennifer Meredith. This was not an experience he enjoyed and complicated his relationship with his second in command DS Victoria Morgan with whom he had a long standing arrangement as far as their social life was concerned.
While being involved with Assistant Chief Constable Jennifer Meredith he also had the job of trying to discover the murderer of two young women university students. This again sees Victoria Morgan performing acts over and above her normal duty as she attempts to trap the perpetrators.
