Twenty years after a mad scientist decimated the population by terraforming the world, when a relative peace was achieved, strange children began raiding the remaining human settlements, their faces hidden by skull masks.
Dreams of an ancient sword and adventure haunt Roland Days as he lives inside the Stronghold, a massive structure built to withstand the effects of the geoengineering of the planet, where monsters and dragons now lurk. He spends his days wishing for freedom to explore the treasures and vistas outside.

Forced to trade brush and canvas for a sword when the Stronghold is breached, Roland joins a hunter and a magician to fight the masked marauders before they end the last remnants of humanity. But behind the assailants, the man responsible for the end of the world lurks, watching, waiting for the moment to enact his perfect vision for the world.

In a twist of fate, Roland discovers the raiders wear not just his voice, but also his face. The answers to his burning questions lay hidden behind the secrets that ended the world and the sword of light that calls to him from deep within the planet.
