A Second Chance

There is a level of defensiveness that comes with having a child out of wedlock. Both the child and the mother experience a lot of harsh criticism and judgment from almost everyone. Victims of teenage pregnancy are often stigmatized and stereotyped. Children from such circumstances are often referred to and labelled as "out-of-wedlock children." Girls who have children before marriage are often not granted the same dignity as girls who have children in a lawful wedded union. This book is for everyone who has been a victim of adolescent pregnancy, a product of adolescent pregnancy, or parents and support system to those who have experienced adolescent pregnancy. This book confronts stereotype and stigma associated with teenage pregnancy. It shows how we can collectively take responsible steps to help the young women around us as individuals and as a community to nurture the young and vulnerable around us than castigate them. Cultural thinking about young women who get pregnant before marriage can be reshaped.
