(Quotations from the text)
The "technological singularity", or simply "singularity," denotes a pivotal moment when technology advances swiftly and irreversibly, heralding a significant transformation in human civilization. Upon reaching this singularity, all forms of technology will evolve at an unprecedented pace, fundamentally altering global functionality. Consequently, existing values and social frameworks will quickly become obsolete, giving rise to an entirely new world.
...
Despite the significant transformations that the singularity promises, many people, including experts across various disciplines, remain largely unaware of this trend. The term "singularity" is not widely understood, and the critical issues, necessary policies, and visions for a post-singularity world are still largely unexplored.
Therefore, this book initiates three crucial discussions on the singularity. The first chapter explores the five most critical issues: AGI, superintelligence, AI alignment, AI governance, and existential risk, setting the stage for further exploration. The second chapter considers the role of governments in the singularity, proposing specific policies like the implementation of basic income and the automation of government functions. The third chapter presents eighteen societal visions expected to emerge post-singularity, painting an ideal future that we should strive towards.
The goal of this book is to spark a global conversation, enhancing humanity's ability to navigate the profound changes brought about by the singularity.
