Over a decade after the events of the first book, "Aiden and the Ring,", Aiden Wilson is no longer a young college student. Successful and incisive, he'd become a bright light in the business world. But after the death of his wife and betrayal of a lover, he's adrift. Seeking a new start, he's moved to a distant city, leaving everyone behind.

Bedeviled by the ring's strange unease and shadowed by his painful memories, he's drinking too much. While hating everyone, including himself, he's teetering on the edge of depression. And after expecting so much, his powerful boss, Madame Sophia Dumont, has lost confidence in him. But he persists, going through the motions. A young woman, Eva, reminding him of the late wife who still haunts him, supports his endeavors.

And together they explore their ever-heightening feelings as well as the ring's mystical linkages. Soon they're fused into an unbeatable force, seeking to regain his status as the force of nature he once was.

But all the while, the ring is nervous. Madame Dumont has ties to its previous bearer. And forces it refuses to reveal are moving ever closer, seeking to regain the ring for their own purposes.
