Alice's Liberal Education--This is the second in the Misadventures of Alice series. Alice learns more of the hard realities of being an orphaned gentlewoman without a dowry in the Regency period (early 1800's). She soon becomes a skilled horsewoman, and learns how to defend herself with her fists as well as sword and pistol. She also learns about boys and loses her virginity to Corey, the handsome young son of the Stable-master on Sir Edward's estate in a steamy scene she engineers by pretending to faint while she and Corey are out riding one day. Corey tries to revive her but soon realizes that she is in no danger and allows his lecherous impulses guide him. But, her trials are far from over. Her lover is leaving to be a cavalry officer and she is being sent to Calais. If this were not enough, she is captured by pirates on her way to France, but that is a story for the next episode.
