ALONG THE NILE elegantly weaves pre-dynastic Egyptian history together with action, mysticism, and romance.

Avoiding the devices of sensationalist Egyptian novels which seem more modern than ancient, more Hollywood than authentic, ALONG THE NILE is a must-read for anyone who has been fascinated with ancient Egypt.

Colin Wilson, a well-known scholar and beloved British author of dozens of books, hundreds of articles, and several plays has this to say:

"Lauren Thyme is obviously a person who knows her ancient Egypt profoundly. Her writing gives an almost hallucinatory impression of being there. ALONG THE NILE is far and away the best novel about Ancient Egypt I have ever read." -- Colin Wilson, THE OUTSIDER; FROM ATLANTIS TO THE SPHINX; & THE OCCULT.

The first recorded Egyptian Pharoah Narmer is considered the unifier of Upper and Lower Egypt. He is known primarily from the Narmer Palette on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. King Narmer emerges fully fleshed and vibrant in this novel. Narrated by Heb, Pharoah's servant, the many facets of Ancient Egypt come to life. Heb's narration is an adventure story set alongside the mighty river's bank, and a love story of passion, loss, spiritual regeneration, culminating in the creation of a new country which lasted 5,000 years -- Egypt -- as it prospered along the Nile.

The author's three prolonged stays in Egypt resulted in life-changing, transformative experiences, leading to further extensive investigation, knowledge, and a personal relation with the goddesses Hathor and Sekhmet. The narrative reflects her intimate and rigorous exploration of Egypt's archaeological sites, especially the religious center at Dendera, and her study of, and participation in, Egyptian magic, rites, and traditions. Lauren was ordained Priestess of Hathor through the worldwide Fellowship of Isis, then opened an Iseum, a school and temple of Hathor, through the same organization. For 7 years Lauren also owned and ran The Egypt Store, selling reproductions of ancient Egyptian papyrus, jewelry, clothing, wall hangings, and statues at psychic fairs and metaphysical events.
