In a future 'Year 0', two beingsPharaona and Astellariabecome catalysts for revolution in a city-state brutalised by an oligarchy of scientists. When Astellaria shoots down from the sky and accidentally steers them both into Amarantis, a twisted chain of events leads to them being convicted of espionage. The punishment is capital.
