This work sets out to assess the problems faced by hearing impaired learners in English language. This study was carried out in morning star school for deaf and hard of hearing; Akum. The study made use of three main objectives which included: to find out whether teachers are trained to use sign language in teaching English, also, to assess the extent to which learners interpret lip reading during English language lessons, Finally to evaluate how well learners with hearing impairments interact with their peers during language lessons. In this study, we used basically primary data collected via questionnaires, interview and observations. There was a sample of 45 questionnaires, 6 observation guide and 7 people were interview making a total sample of 58 respondents. Descriptive statistical tools were used to analyse data and results were presented by use of frequency distributions tables, bar charts and pie charts. The researcher made use of theories and empirical works drown from other areas of study which were also relevant for the study. The findings revealed that these institutions faced a problem of both institutional and social problems which affects the learners' acquisition of English language and other disciplines. The researcher therefore recommendsthat;the schools need to allocate funds to provide basic sign language training for the teaching and non- teaching staff. This will ease communication as well as encourage teaching to become more sensitive to the students and modify teaching methods and examination setting so as to accommodate them. Also, there is need to increase human resource particularly sign language interpreters who have appropriate educational skills; at least a minimum of a bachelors degree as well as provide compensation commensurate to work done.
