An Ideal Husband is a 1895 comedy by Oscar Wilde which spins around shakedown and political debasement and addresses the subjects of public and private honor. The activity is set in London, in "the present", and happens inside a solitary day. "At some point or another," Wilde notes, "we will all need to pay for what we do." But he includes that, "Nobody ought to be altogether decided by their past."
