When Andy's neighbor's wife dies, he takes the five children to his house for a few days. Then his neighbor asks him to watch them while he goes into the city to retrain for a job with his company. Soon the trips become more frequent and longer until one day he just don't come back at all. Andy is only twenty but he's known all the kids from their birth. He cannot allow them to be separated and adopted out or grow up in foster care. It's a small town and no one wants to separate the kids. So they allow Andy to raise them. In the meantime, a well off man's daughter, Amber, has been in love with Andy since high school. But a rumor that Andy is planning on marrying the oldest girl of the five kids causes her to think she has no chance with him. Unbeknown to Andy or Amber, there is a surprise awaiting them when they finally talk.
