When twelve-year-old Amber goes to stay with her Grandad Charlie on the Island of Legna, the last thing she expects is to be stranded there after a huge storm. Left to look after Charlie who is suffering with dementia, she has only her fourteen-year-old neighbour Emil to help.
The appearance of two strangers on the Island looking for Charlies neighbour Katrin, heralds the beginning of a series of strange events. And when a young girl called Ella is discovered hiding in Katrins house, real life seems to become mixed up with an old folktale.
