Quakers claim that there is that of the Spirit within everyone. We are sacred beings, made from the 'stuff' of the divine Originating Power and able to be in resonance with it today. Quaker worship is based on that amazing fact and the Quaker Way of life is a direct outcome from it. What was once considered heresy is now a growing spiritual understanding.
What do Quakers mean when we speak of 'that of God'? And what would be the implications if we held an awareness of the Divine in everyone all of the time? What if we tried genuinely to live this belief day by day, minute by minute, in the encounters we have with our family, with our friends, at work, and in society at large?
'Answering that of God' is an invitation and a challenge to explore these questions. It examines Who we really are; reflects on the spiritual values that lie behind the Quaker witness to Truth, Equality, Simplicity and Peace; exhorts us to Let our Lives Speak and finally, in Remembering, urges us to find daily ways of prompting ourselves to do so. Each section offers scope for reflection.
